Karl is CEO of the Icelandic Centre for Future Studies and Managing Director of Entrepreneurship and Business, at the Innovation Centre of Iceland. He has worked for decades in the fields of marketing and product development and has extensive marketing and sales experience in both the domestic and international arenas.
As a consultant, he has assisted numerous Icelandic companies with structuring product development, innovation and has supervised a diverse range of product development projects, from the conception of product ideas to marketing.
He has been assisting companies, and public bodies in their future-oriented activities, since 2005, in using scenario planning and other future tools in their strategy and innovation activities.
Lecturing at universities, institutes and companies in the fields of future studies, management and operations, particularly product development and innovation, has also been a large part of his work
